Overview

The Senior Engineer Scientist I will provide advanced engineering and scientific expertise to support the Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) lifecycle, focusing on technical data management, training systems development, and engineering services. This role requires a highly experienced professional with a strong background in engineering, science, or a related discipline to ensure the effective design, development, and sustainment of UAS systems and their associated support structures. The Senior Engineer Scientist I will collaborate with government stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance operational capabilities and mission success.

Responsibilities

Technical Data Management:

  • Digital Enterprise Support: Manage Digital Enterprise product data and Digital Thread framework, including review and verification of Logistics Product Data and Digital System Models.
  • Engineering Change Proposals: Analyze and assess Engineering Change Proposals, Modification Work Orders, and Requests for Waiver and Deviations to identify logistics impacts and lifecycle product support requirements.
  • Technical Data Analysis: Evaluate raw engineering source data to develop practical procedures for inclusion in equipment publications, ensuring accuracy in maintenance tasks, troubleshooting data, and calibration requirements.
  • Publication Development: Develop, revise, and maintain equipment publications, including Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, Operator Manuals, and Depot Maintenance Work Requirements.
  • Data Rights Assessment: Provide recommendations to the Government on program data rights and integrated logistics support data deliverables from manufacturers.

Training Systems Development:

  • Training Strategies: Develop cohesive strategies to train Warfighters to operate and maintain UAS systems throughout their lifecycle.
  • Training Devices: Identify, plan, and resource Training Aides Devices Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) to sustain training systems at the lowest total ownership cost.
  • Courseware Development: Create and maintain UAS operator and maintainer courseware, including Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) and Virtual Immersive Environment materials.
  • Testing and Validation: Support Government acceptance testing, fielding, and New Equipment Training (NET) for TADSS, ensuring quality assurance and compliance with program requirements.

Engineering Services:

  • Design and Development: Provide technical and engineering support for the design, development, evaluation, analysis, documentation, production, and sustainment of UAS systems, including associated supporting systems.
  • Cybersecurity and Information Assurance: Deliver engineering services to ensure cybersecurity and information assurance compliance for UAS systems.
  • Aircraft Survivability: Provide engineering expertise in aircraft survivability and mission systems architecture.
  • Sustaining Engineering: Participate in engineering reviews and design reviews, providing recommendations to resolve operational issues and influence required design changes.

Qualifications

Required:

 

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience gained after obtaining a bachelor’s degree.
    • Expertise in technical data management, training systems development, and engineering services for complex systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in engineering tools, data management systems, and simulation software.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Security Clearance:
    • Active SECRET clearance required.

Work Location:

  • Primary: Redstone Arsenal, Alabama.
  • Secondary: Authorized virtual work location per customer Telework Policy. Temporary Duty (TDY) may be required at other locations.

Additional Requirements:

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Knowledge of Federal, DoD, and Army regulations related to engineering and technical data management.
