Overview

The DevOps/Cloud Engineer ensures the General Services Administration’s (GSA) Capital Planning and Investment Control (CPIC) Program Management Office (PMO) cloud environments are reliable, scalable, secure, and optimized for performance, while driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for designing, developing, securing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and automating the deployment and operation of applications managed by the CPIC PMO.

· Collaborates closely with development, operations, and security teams to build and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, implement infrastructure as code, and deploy monitoring and logging solutions.

· Deliver production-ready code using Agile software development techniques at the end of each sprint iteration.

· Conduct Agile ceremonies to foster collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement so that the team stays aligned on goals and delivery outcomes.

· Conduct Product backlog refinement to review and refine each user story within the product backlog to include estimated sizing, defining the definition of done, establishment of acceptance criteria, and prioritization.

· Provide approved high-level Release Notes so that end users can understand the stories that were developed and released into production environments at the end of each sprint.

· Utilize Agile project management tools to provide the federal Product Owner with full visibility and access to the vendor-maintained agile software development tracking system.

· Design, implement, and maintain automated test scripts for the early detection of defects, reduced regression risk, and more reliable application quality for production releases.

· Integrate AI-powered tools to automate documentation, code development, testing, and Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline activities to accelerate delivery and productivity, improve code quality, reduce manual effort, and enhance the overall efficiency and reliability of the software development lifecycle.

· Facilitate backlog ideation sessions with the federal Product Owner and cross-functional stakeholders for aligning user stories and feature prioritization with the product roadmap and long-term program objectives.

· Track and report agile project management metrics to provide visibility into progress, support accountability, and enable data-driven decisions that improve delivery performance.

Qualifications

Required:

 

· BA/BS degree in an Information Technology or Computer Science discipline. An additional four years of experience instead of a degree is acceptable.

· At least 5 years of experience with Agile development

· Expertise with cloud platforms, containerization, automation tools, and security best practices is essential to support agile development and mission-critical IT portfolio management goals.

· Hands-on experience working with tools and technologies in, at a minimum, two (2) of the following areas: software development, configuration control, testing, security, automation, containerization, orchestration, cloud services, and open-source technologies.

· Experience using any of the following: Salesforce IL 4 Platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure, MuleSoft Interface Utility, and Azure DevOps (ADO) Agile Tool.
